The Director, Product Management will play a critical leadership role within the Product Experience team, reporting directly to the SVP of Product Experience. This individual will be responsible for defining and driving global product strategy, managing both the Silicon Valley and Korean product management teams, and interfacing directly with leaders from the Hyundai Motor Group. Additionally, this role will oversee internally developed vehicle programs, ensuring alignment across regions and functions to deliver industry-leading software-defined vehicle (SDV) experiences.
This role encompasses In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI), Mobile Applications, Cloud Services, and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, ensuring a seamless and innovative user experience across all platforms and markets. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with UX and HMI Design Leaders, Software Engineering, and Electrical Hardware teams to shape and execute user-centric solutions. This position is part of a global team spanning Mountain View, South Korea, and Poland. As part of this role, travel to South Korea will be required to foster close collaboration with the local teams.
Responsibilities
Global Product Leadership
Lead the Silicon Valley and Korean product management teams, ensuring strategic alignment execution across regions and integrated processes with other teams.
Oversee internally developed vehicle programs, ensuring they meet business goals, technical feasibility, and user expectations.
Define and maintain a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with business objectives, regional needs, and emerging market trends.
Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle, from conceptualization to post-launch optimization.
Product Strategy & Roadmap Execution
Develop and execute the global strategy for Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, enhancing product functionality and ensuring continued innovation across vehicle models and markets.
Translate market insights and user trends into actionable strategies, prioritizing key features to drive differentiation and user engagement.
Partner with Technical Program Managers to ensure timely delivery of product milestones, adjusting the roadmap as needed to achieve business goals.
Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration
Act as the key interface between Product, UX, Engineering, and Business teams, ensuring a cohesive vision and execution.
Work with internal and external partners to align product goals with broader business initiatives and partnerships.
Collaborate closely with UX and HMI teams to refine and optimize the user experience.
Influence executive decision-making with data-driven insights, defining key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and customer satisfaction.
Partnership & Ecosystem Development
Establish and manage relationships with global software and service providers across media, gaming, and navigation to enrich the vehicle app ecosystem.
Foster strong partnerships with third-party app developers to ensure a robust ecosystem of services for users outside Korea.
Drive the long-term vision for in-vehicle digital experiences, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of software-defined mobility.
People & Organizational Leadership
Mentor and lead a high-performing global product management team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven culture.
Ensure cross-regional alignment between the Silicon Valley and Korean product teams, optimizing workflows and communication.
Develop succession plans and leadership growth initiatives to strengthen the product management function across the company.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in product management, with 5+ years in leadership roles within automotive, technology, or software-defined vehicle (SDV) industries.
Strong track record in global product leadership, managing multi-region teams and complex software ecosystems.
Expertise in infotainment systems, mobile applications, connected cloud services, and OTA updates.
Proven ability to develop and execute global product strategies, translating market insights into competitive differentiators.
Experience in managing cross-domain integration between software, hardware, and UX design.
Excellent stakeholder management, executive communication, and negotiation skills.
Familiarity with automotive localization requirements for ROW markets is a plus.
